Reacher is the best action show right now. Here’s why

REACHER Season 2 – Official Trailer | Prime Video

handrail it’s back and nastier than ever. Alan Ritchson returns for another round of action and mystery solving in Season 2 of the Prime Video hit handrailbased on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series. The actor plays the title character, a self-proclaimed drifter and former military policeman whose terrifying powers make him the worst nightmare for anyone foolish enough to cross him.

A surprise hit with its first season, handrail received critical acclaim, making him one of the the best original series on Amazon Prime. Season 2 takes everything that worked about its predecessor and improves on it, while maintaining the same gritty, downright cathartic approach that made it successful the first time around. Again, the plot juggles the past and the present; in the past, the series follows Reacher’s time in the military with his unit, the 110th MP Special Investigation Unit. In the present, Reacher receives word of a series of deaths from several members of his team. He reunites with the survivors and sets out to find the culprits and punish them in a way only he knows how.

Benefiting from Ritchson’s superb performance, handrail Season 2 is bigger and better, proving it’s the best action show on TV and the perfect antidote to the joyous and inevitable Christmas season. Here’s why.

If it ain’t broke…

Season 1 handrail it succeeded primarily because it was a well-told, well-crafted and comprehensive television series. It was suspenseful enough to surprise, but clever enough to keep the audience guessing; the general story may have been predictable, but the intricacies were not. I found this approach so simple it was refreshing. At a time when film and television feel the need to be as bombastic as possible, there’s something truly wonderful about a show that sticks to the basics.

handrail it does not invent a genre; on the contrary, he hugs her. Almost every cliché is present, from the brash, by-the-book cop—the scene-stealing Domenick Lombardozzi—to the cartoonish yet incredibly hateable villain—the ever-reliable Robert Patrick. Quotes are repeated ad nauseam—remember, details matter in an investigation—and character traits are milked until they dry up. Much like the titular hero, this show takes major plot points and beats you over the head with them. Yet therein lies its appeal. Familiarity is welcome here handrail this makes it pleasant – comforting even. That is, until the titular big guy unexpectedly breaks someone’s leg or chokes someone to death.

The past few years have been amazing for the action genreand handrail is a worthy addition to the ever-expanding canon of brutal and endlessly entertaining criminal pockets. The show stands out because it features a near-perfect balance of compelling, fast-paced and surprising mystery and gritty, no-nonsense thrills. There is a much appreciated naturalism in it handrail‘s action sequences that make it feel more grounded than, say, things like pushing boundaries Mission Impossible or violently stylish John Wick. Reacher is a beast, yes, but for all his strengths, he is very fallible. For example, it hits like a truck but drives like a tractor – there’s even a joke about it.

handrail‘s action is also highly effective. After all, nothing is as satisfying as seeing villains suffer for their crimes, and this show knows that. It maximizes every punishment without being too graphic. Don’t get me wrong, season 2 is louder and bloodier than season 1, but the violence never becomes over the top or disgusting. handrailThe action walks a fine line, showing just enough to make the audience cheer for the villain’s demise without forcing them to turn away from the screen.

Reacher has friends!

Most recently, Reacher solved the margrave mystery with the help of young Sergeant Roscoe Conklin and uptight lead detective Oscar Finlay. The three formed an odd group, their dynamic based on their conflicting personalities trying to work together. It was great, and was largely the reason for the unpredictable charm of the first season. However, Season 2 skips the bonding phase and gets straight to it, bringing Reacher’s old army buddies into the equation.

Frances Neagley is back in a bigger role, along with Karla Dixon and David O’Donnell, two former members of the 100 who are loyal to Reacher. Unlike Roscoe and Finlay, who often expressed confusion and occasional shock at Reacher’s methods, Neagley, Dixon, and O’Donnell are well acquainted with them. This allows Season 2 to jump right into the action, forgoing any need for introductions or set-ups.

More importantly, the presence of Neagley, Dixon and O’Donnell means handrail now has some pretty spectacular group sequences. Reacher still shines, but his three companions are just as capable as him, each given a chance to shine with their enviable fighting moves. Season 2 finds handrail experimenting with more stylish fight choreography – a particularly notable sequence involves the group going up against a biker gang. Still, the action remains astonishing and brutal; a smashed skull is a smashed skull and Reacher is thrashing a ton from them.

Undoubtedly, handrail is the best action show on TV right now, an old-school crime thriller that packs a punch. Amazon Prime has some great action movies and even some worthwhile performances – looking at you, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. However, none compares handraila show that understands the power of straightforward, unassuming and satisfying storytelling.

Prime Video understands this, as it has before renewed handrail for the third season. Who can blame them? Between handrail, Jack Ryan, List of terminalsand Citadelstreamer is slowly building itself as the ultimate destination for “daddy content”. handrail however, it is the best of these shows, and not by a long shot. Prime Video also doesn’t have to worry about running out of content Jack Reacher the series has a whopping 26 books to draw from. So fans handrail can celebrate because it seems for a moment that Jack Reacher is here, and frankly, the action genre is better for it.
