Toyota production and sales soared to new heights, with the Japanese automaker producing 9.23 million vehicles and selling 9.36 million vehicles from January to November.

With semiconductor shortages and strong demand for its vehicles in North America and across Europe, Toyota expects to produce more than 10 million Toyota vehicles by 2023 and Lexus brand vehicles. It enjoyed an exceptionally strong November with 926,573 cars produced, of which 611,656 were produced outside Japan while the remaining 314,917 cars were produced locally.

Toyota would not have been able to reach new production heights if not for strong demand. Japanese newspaper The Mainichi reports that it sold 905,066 cars in November, up 13.6% from a year earlier and a record for a single month. Demand in Japan proved particularly strong, jumping 27.1% to 139,749 units, while global sales rose 11.5% to 765,317 units. Sales of the company’s electrified cars rose 53.4% ​​to 343,981 units in November.

During the first 11 months of the year, the Toyota and Lexus brands sold 9,367,040 cars worldwide.

Toyotas the all-time best sales year came in 2019, when a total of 9,714,253 cars were sold worldwide, excluding Daihatsu and Hino brand sales. Sales fell to 8,692,168 in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but bounced back to 9,615,157 in 2021 and slightly down to 9,567,184 units in 2022.

The car company’s sales developed well throughout the year. Toyota reported 10 consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth worldwide and 11 consecutive months of rising sales in Japan alone. This year, production has also been growing for 11 months in a row.
