BMW Driver PIT Maneuvers After Hitting 145 MPH In Florida

After being hit by a police car, the 21-year-old driver tried to flee on foot

Police have arrested and charged a Windermere, Florida woman after she led police on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of over 140 mph. The chase ended abruptly when the pursuing officer executed a PIT maneuver on BMW she was driving.

The incident happened around 2:20 a.m. on Dec. 21 when Florida Highway Patrol troopers spotted the silver. BMW traveling in excess of 145 mph on Interstate 75 in Lee County. They immediately gave chase and followed the female driver as she continued down the highway. Finally, she got out and headed east on State Route 82.

The driver then continued to speed down Colonial Boulevard, reaching speeds of more than 120 mph (193 km/h). Dashcam footage captured from the pursuing police vehicle revealed her erratic driving and an apparent struggle to maintain control of the car. When the trooper witnessed the driver weaving across a straight section of road, they executed a maneuver and struck the rear quarter of what appeared to be an E93. 3-row Convertible. While not a flawless PIT maneuver, it successfully spun the car and rendered it inoperable.

The driver strangely didn’t give up even after her car flipped over. Instead, she tried to flee on foot, but was chased by law enforcement officers and promptly apprehended. He now faces charges of DUI, fleeing and eluding law enforcementnon-violent resistance and reckless driving.

According to Fort Myers News-PressCecilia Elise Hoffman, 21, appeared in court on Dec. 22 and her bond was set at $20,000. Her next court appearance on her charges is scheduled for Jan. 22.
